# How To Create and Manage Lists

The lists tool in HubSpot allows you to create a list of contacts or companies based on property values and other characteristics, including activities. 

In this tutorial you will learn:

- How to create a new 'static' or 'active' list.
- How to add and edit filters to 'active' lists.
- How to use a list as a recipient list for a marketing email.
